You ate me from the inside out

held my hips and feasted on skinny remains

                                 inadequacies devoured with patient strokes

the unfurling of Venus.

You fell upon an ancient river long forgotten

cupped the overflow with your bare hands and with soft, gently coaxing

invited this weary traveller home from limbo

                                                                                                drank me whole again.
